Our Gardens are blessed to have a large rainwater catchment system that collects water off the library roof. It stores this rainwater in large catchment tanks and uses a solar panel and DC powered pump to provide the rainwater to a number of water spigots throughout the Gardens. This system has served us well for the last 8 years.
Unfortunately, we periodically do have some maintenance issues that need to be addressed to keep the system pumping. Recently, MNG volunteers determined that the solar/DC pump had failed and that one of the spigots also needed to be replaced. So, John VanVoorhis, Bill Klodt, and Ed McNally from our Maintenance Committee have replaced the DC pump and are in the process of replacing the spigot – see photo for more info about the spigot replacement. Our volunteers provide many skills to allow our gardens to flourish.
