Native Grasses Plants

This garden was first constructed in 2014 and has been upgraded to provide additional native grasses in recent years.  Historically, the WNC mountains were not normally grasslands.  However, as the landscape has been cleared for farming, roads, and development more environments for grasses are now available.  Unfortunately, much of our sunny countryside are now covered in invasive chinese silvergrass and this grass are bad for farmers and for the natural environment.  But,  establishing native grasses helps provide native insects and birds habitat and is easy to maintain.  Consider planting some of these native grasses at your house or farm.  They are beautiful and help protect our natural environment.
