Winter Garden Events

We are slowing down in the Native Native Gardens as winter approaches. Our normal 3rd Saturday Workday schedule has been discontinued until February 2026 (i.e., winter is not the best time for us to be in the Garden and thanks to our volunteers we don’t have much unfinished maintenance needs in the Gardens). So, our next scheduled Saturday workday and garden party will be on February 21st 2026. Over the winter our functional committees and teams will continue to do the behind the scenes work of coordinating future programs, developing our 2026 budget, and applying for some grants. The trail creation efforts in the Woodland Shade garden will continue with winter meetings to plan and cost out a deck — that feature will be started next spring if we get a grant.

In spite of winter, we do have a couple service days scheduled with French Broad River Academy students in December (they are a tough crew). And, over the winter we have a couple of great Adult Education Presentations that Marshall Native Gardens will be offering you. See details on the listing and calendar below:

Upcoming Winter Activities Scheduled:

  • Thursday, December 4th at 9:45am we with have French Broad River Academy boys onsite for service and an educational tour. I hope you can join us as finish up our fall maintenance efforts and provide a tour.

  • Thursday, February 26th, at 5:30pm in the Meeting Room of the Library we are hosting a free presentation by Luke Bennet, Conservation Coordinator of the North Carolina Wiidlife Federation.
