Our Rotary Sponsored Peace Pole, which Lois Simbach has now completed the artwork on, is now ready for installation in the Butterfly Garden. She did a great job!!!
However, we need to do renovations and peace pole site work prior to the peace pole unveiled ceremonies on May 31st. So, we are doing these major renovations and improvements to the Butterfly Garden. This renovation and site work will require focused efforts by our teams of volunteers for the next couple of months to allow the Butterfly Garden to be ready on May 31st for a educational community event when we will have the “Peace Pole Celebration & Unveiling Event”. Please save that date and watch for further details…
In April we have a number of scheduled opportunities for our volunteers (and you are invited too) to make a difference by helping in the gardens.
Upcoming Activities Scheduled in April:
- Thursday, April 3rd from 3pm until 6pm, we have Project Challenge onsite with our volunteers to help us to dig and plant native plants, create beds, install pavers, and move river rock along the trails. Come join us!
- Thursday, April 10th 3pm until 6pm we have Project Challenge onsite with our volunteers. We will be working to complete tasks in the Butterfly Garden and on general maintenance of the gardens. Come join us!
- Thursday, April 17th 3pm until 6pm we have Project Challenge onsite with our volunteers. We will be working to complete additional tasks in the Butterfly Garden. Come join us!
- Saturday, April 19th at 9:30am until 1pm we will have our April MNGI work day (This is our main scheduled workday and is every 3rd Saturday of the month). We expect to have Asheville Academy youth to also be onsite to assist our volunteers in Butterfly Gardens. Then, at about 12:15pm we will have an informal Garden Party where food and refreshments will be provided to our volunteers and we can socialize and catch up… This is the best time every month for newbies to come to meet our volunteers and join in the garden fun! Come join us!
- Saturday, April 26th starting at 12noon there will be a hybrid Executive Committee Meeting in the Library meeting room. Anyone is welcome to sit in to learn about how MNGI operates.
Thanks for your ongoing interest and support for the native gardens. We hope you consider one or more of our upcoming events to be worthy of your time and will join us for some service and fun!
